1. Conditioning - Over time, vegetable-tanned leather may lose some of its natural oils due to contact with skin or clothing. To prevent it from drying out, we recommend applying a natural wax conditioner periodically. You can find this conditioner at the Bowman Leather store.

2. Breaking in - If you are new to vegetable-tanned leather, you may initially find it to be stiff compared to chrome-tanned leather. This is normal and part of the unique journey you will have with your product. With regular use, you will notice the leather becoming softer and gradually moulding to its intended use.

3. Water spillages - Vegetable-tanned leather is a natural material that breathes. If your item gets wet, simply allow it to dry naturally. Avoid using heat sources or direct sunlight, as they may cause the leather to become stiff or discoloured.

A brand new veg tan leather item fresh out of the box may feel a bit stiff. This is normal and part of the beautiful journey that you go on. First, take some time to gently pull and flex the leather. This will help loosen the fibres and begin the process of the leather moulding to your body and carrying style. Over time the leather will soften and begin to develop a patina and it will gain its own unique style that only you possess.

Our camera straps and accessories are handcrafted from premium vegetable-tanned leather, free from toxic tanning chemicals. Each piece is designed for durability, comfort, and reliability when used with photographic equipment. Some models include quick-release anchors, removable shoulder pads, or fixed/removable lug protectors.

• Attach securely: Always ensure that your strap, anchor, or connection point is properly attached before lifting or carrying your camera. Riveted and stitched finishes are highly secure when used correctly. Quick-release anchors must be fully seated and locked before use. • Insert and fit correctly: Insert your finger (finger strap) or hand (duo and wrist straps) fully into the loop and ensure a snug fit before use. Adjust keep loop for snug fit where applicable.

• Shoulder pads: Slide the shoulder pad onto the strap for improved comfort. Ensure it is properly aligned and positioned before wearing.

• Check regularly: Inspect leather and anchors for signs of wear, stretching, or softening. Replace components showing damage or degradation.

• Use only as intended: Designed for cameras and related gear. Do not use for other purposes.

• Avoid misuse: Do not swing, wrap, or pull the strap around your neck or limbs. Keep away from children — risk of strangulation or entanglement.

• Finger and duo straps: Finger straps and duo straps do not have keep loops, so they require careful handling to avoid accidental drops.

• Lug protectors: Ensure fixed or removable protectors are properly aligned.

• Leather care: Clean with a soft, dry cloth. You may apply our natural leather balm for conditioning. Avoid solvent-based cleaners.

• Natural aging: Vegetable-tanned leather will naturally develop a patina over time; this is normal and does not affect safety or performance.

• All leather is vegetable-tanned, with no chromium or heavy metals.

• Nickel present in loop of Scree strap; minimal skin contact; users with nickel sensitivity should exercise caution.

• Leather balm contains sweet almond oil — not suitable for those with nut allergies.
